2 tsp. baking powder

2 Tb. brown sugar for sprinkling

2 large eggs

2 tsp. chinese five spice powder (substitute apple pie spice or cinnamon)

2 cup all-purpose flour

1 large ripe pear

1 tsp. salt

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 tsp. vanilla extract
